U.S. financial crisis is responsible for my baby's seizures says mom
A mother said her efforts to save money nearly killed her 5-month-old son.
Jeri Moss said she diluted her baby's forumla with water to make it last longer, but the child started having seizures and stopped breathing.
Doctors said the baby suffered from water intoxication and malnutrition, both of which can be fatal.
The child, La'Damian Barton, is expected to be OK.
Moss said she was trying to make about 10 cans of formula last through the month, and never knew it could harm her baby.
Pediatricians said they fear they could see more cases like this during the tough economic times.
Doctors said the best thing to feed babies is breast milk. If that is not possible, try to use a pre-mixed formula.
They say infants should not be given any additional water until they are at least 10 months old.
